The Challenge

Many areas across the state rely heavily on bottled and trucked water to meet their drinking water needs. Communities already suffering from water scarcity can’t trust that the little water they have access to is reliable enough to drink, wash with, or use for most everyday needs.

The Opportunity

Vida Water’s core belief is that access to reliable drinking water is a basic human right. We focus on colonias and communities in Texas that face disproportionate water quality challenges, and we work closely with local partners and trusted experts to bring reliable tap water to households and community facilities through a rigorous process of quality testing, installation, and maintenance and support. We believe everyone deserves access to water they can trust straight from their tap.

The Impact

To date, Vida Water has served more than 70 households, benefiting over 200 people through point-of-use (POU) water treatment systems, community outreach, and water quality education. Current installations provide an estimated 140,000 gallons of improved drinking water each year, with this impact growing as more households and facilities are served. Participating households also save approximately $420 annually by reducing fuel, gasoline, and bottled water costs–roughly 1.7% of total gross median income for many households. We work closely with each household to provide ongoing support and transparent water-quality information, strengthening community understanding and fostering collective awareness of local water systems.
