FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

MENARD, TX – July 15, 2026 – As part of Texas Water Trade’s commitment to durable water solutions in the San Saba River region, Texas Water Trade is partnering with Camp Sol Mayer, a Scouting America, Texas Southwest Council ranch along the San Saba River, to bolster instream flow in a section of the river that holds critical habitat for local wildlife.

The partnership includes a multiyear lease agreement that incentivizes Camp Sol Mayer to leave its water rights instream, protects a pivotal section of the San Saba River, and provides funding for necessary updates to the camp’s water infrastructure.

“Texas Water Trade came to us with a multi-pronged approach to address concerns with our water systems, and we were eager to work with them to implement tactics that would positively impact not just our Scouts and campers, but the ecosystem and community around us,” said Devin Koehler, Scout Executive and CEO of Scouting America, Texas Southwest Council. “Collaborating and investing in sustainable water practices that also protect wildlife is a no-brainer for us and is core to the ethos of the Scouts.”

The San Saba River is an invaluable resource to the communities, businesses, and wildlife that live and work in the region, and Texas Water Trade is proud to help keep its waters flowing. Texas Water Trade recently announced its first-ever permanent water rights acquisition and subsequent dedication of 515 acre-feet of senior water rights to the San Saba River Trust, supporting nearly 2.5 miles of the river.

“We’re thrilled to work with the team at Camp Sol Mayer and Scouting America to support and enhance a vital section of the San Saba River,” said Kyle Garmany, Chief Strategy Officer at Texas Water Trade. “With collaborative water rights agreements like our projects along the river, we’re developing scalable win-win water solutions for private property owners, local economies, members of the community, and surrounding habitats that can be replicated across Texas.”
